Hou Wenquan: Distinguished leaders, distinguished guests and friends from the press, good afternoon! Hosted by China ceramic industry association, organized by Beijing Guozhong Ceramic Art Museum, co-organized by Tsinghua university academy of fine arts, Jingdezhen ceramic institute, Beijing arts and crafts association, Beijing arts and crafts publishing house and China ceramics magazine, master Chen Liehan ceramic art exhibition is grandly opened here this afternoon. First of all, on behalf of China Ceramic Industry Association, I would like to extend my warm welcome and heartfelt thanks to the leaders, experts and scholars, guests and friends from the media and journalists who have attended this event.

 

Today is a traditional Chinese festival -- the eighth day of the twelfth lunar month. This is a traditional festival we worship in ancient times, and it is also the day of Buddha's enlightenment. Therefore, on such a big day, Master Chen Liehan's personal exhibition is opened. On behalf of the association, I would like to congratulate Master Chen!

 

Today's opening ceremony is divided into three stages. First, we will hold a short opening ceremony with a 20-minute break for you to take pictures and visit Master Chen's works. The third part will be a small seminar. I will preside over the opening of the first part of the exhibition.

Wang Jianzhong: Ladies and gentlemen, good afternoon. I am very glad to attend Master Chen Liehan's first solo exhibition in more than 30 years on such a day. I am also very grateful to the Ceramic Art Museum of China High School for providing such a high-end platform for Master Chen Liehan. Master Chen Liehan is one of our old students. After graduation, he has been busy with ceramic art communication and ceramic works creation. I myself often go to various porcelain producing areas for research, meetings and creation. Many people in the porcelain producing areas are very familiar with Master Chen Liehan. As we all know, in the early 1990s, his ceramic creation was carried out outside of his own work. Just now, I have seen all the exhibits, which can be summarized into several periods. The first time series of blue and white is his 1990 to 1993 in the central academy of arts and crafts (now) of Tsinghua university academy of fine arts graduate student period in Hu Meisheng creation under the guidance of professor, master of art of Jingdezhen blue and white cancel the traditional water is better, the technique of expression is very rigorous, picture composition layout adornment sex is very strong; Modern ceramic art works, the second period is after he began to work, under the influence of western art, in the broad learning exchange after the country's most authoritative art trend, he in the suburbs of Beijing in 2005 to set up their own pottery workshop, the modern three-dimensional structure, the art of modern image modelling, abstract modelling technique organically unifies in together. Created a number of personal style characteristics of the ceramic works. The third period of creation is he after 2010 in Longquan celadon works, almost five years he put all his energy into research and creation of Longquan celadon, fully tap potential celadon material beauty, rich model change, and a diversity of adornment gimmick, hand-cut, glaze color jade, rich contemporary celadon art, has a certain times and representative. Chen Lie han masters of ceramic works I think there are three characteristics, first of all, can feel his love of ceramic art and ceramic culture and the effort to study, for various ceramic materials have their own understanding and the understanding and grasp, and performance in the creation, constitute the Chen Lie han master a distinct characteristic of modern ceramic art creation. Secondly, Master Chen Liehan's ceramic creation is very rigorous, whether the blue and white lines and water separation, or the molding details of celadon, pottery clay material, color glaze changes, all clearly reflect his rigorous academic attitude in the creation.Thirdly, Master Chen Liehan works in China Arts and Crafts Group. He has a broad vision and no family views. He has a wide range of creative themes, exquisite skills and comprehensive techniques of expression, including engraving, painting and sculpture decoration. As a ceramic master, Chen Liehan is still in his middle age, and he still has a long way to go in the future. Currently, he has made considerable academic achievements, but he still needs to set higher goals and pursue higher goals. Today, we are holding "Master Chen Liehan's Ceramic Art Exhibition" in Guozhong Ceramic Art Museum. First of all, on behalf of the organizer, I wish the exhibition of Master Chen Liehan's works a complete success. At the same time, I would like to express my warm welcome and heartfelt thanks to all the guests who braved the cold weather to attend this exhibition. Just now, Professor Wang Jianzhong has given full recognition to Master Chen's works created over the past 30 years. As I am still a novice to art, I dare not comment on them. However, after seeing the 100 works on display, I am very shocked by the exquisite decoration and novel shape of the works. From the perspective of market, I like Master Chen's works of art very much and have the potential to collect them. It is a great honor to be the organizer of the exhibition. Chen Liehan: Distinguished leaders, teachers and friends, good afternoon!

First of all, thank you very much for taking time out of your busy schedule to attend my personal work exhibition. Thank you very much of China ceramic industry association host the show for me, thank you very much in ceramic art for me so as to undertake unit spacious, comfortable, elegant and logistics of the exhibition hall, thank you very much for the co-organizer, Jingdezhen ceramic institute of tsinghua university academy of fine arts, Beijing arts and crafts arts and crafts association, Beijing publishing house and "China ceramics" magazine. Strong support for the exhibition.

I would like to briefly introduce the exhibits and my experience in creating these works. A total of 100 pieces of works are on display, including 20 pieces of blue, white and painted porcelain, 13 pieces of modern ceramics and 67 pieces of Longquan celadon. There are several reflections on the creation of these works.

Ceramic art is the art of water, earth and fire, I'm in the water, earth and fire the art of cultivation for 30 years, created hundreds of different types, different materials, different technology, different styles of ceramic works, deeply feel the ceramic art creation is a contains material science, technology, art and other subjects of comprehensive knowledge. Ceramic artists need to work hard to learn and master the above related subject knowledge for artistic creation, which is indispensable. Ceramic art creation is a very hard labor experience.

Ceramic blue and white decorative art creation, must have profound painting modeling ability, must experience life before creation, sketching to collect materials. Decoration pattern is usually conducted on three-dimensional vessels, decoration pattern must be coordinated with modelling is part of the change, primary and secondary distinct, the landscape of the decoration pattern is, the audience from each Angle to appreciate must be complete and patterns of the theme design must have the ideological content and artistic quality and time, to conform to the requirements of the era of aesthetic, reflects the era of science and technology, material technology and firing technology. Blue veins decoration on the billet is in the dry clay, mud slab with strong water absorb, paint line and shading color than it is much more difficult to paint on paper, cloth, is because of the restriction of water absorption, mud is produced and a stack of blue and white decoration to cancel water painting form, formed a typical style of blue and white decoration art.

 

In modern ceramic art creation, you must master the use of soil plasticity, dry sintering shrinkage rate and soil bearing capacity under high temperature, firing range of the mud and glaze firing range, etc., using different sludge ceramic art creation, mud conditionality of the ceramic modelling has a big, a lot of modelling clay material is can't do it, because of limited mud property. Therefore, the unique language of ceramic modeling itself has been formed. It is because of the kiln change of the glaze in the high temperature firing that the unique artistic style and characteristics of ceramic art have been produced. The beauty of the texture, the beauty of the glaze, the beauty of the kiln change and the beauty of the defects produced in the high temperature firing of modern ceramic art are beyond the reach of metal materials and wood materials. Modern pottery creation should be contemporary, so that later generations will know that this is a work of the 21st century.

Longquan celadon art is a traditional plastic art with a history of more than 1,000 years. It pursues the beauty of simple modeling, the beauty of warm glaze, the beauty of subtle and elegant decoration, and the beauty of exquisite workmanship. To create celadon art you must be familiar with the tradition and the core of the beauty of celadon. You must be familiar with the clay nature of the purple gold clay and the firing range of the glaze. The firing, heating rate and holding time of celadon's strong reducing flame have a lot of knowledge and need to be explored constantly. Ceramists should strive to create works with personal style characteristics on modeling, decoration and glaze color deployment.

Zhang Shouzhi: Before the opening of the exhibition, I repeatedly watched Chen Liehan's celadon works, and I would like to take this opportunity to share my experience. Chen Liehan graduated from the Department of Fine Arts of Jingdezhen Ceramic Institute. His teacher happened to be my big brother, Professor Shi Yuren, the monitor of our class when we studied in the Department of Ceramics of Central Academy of Fine Arts in the 1950s.After graduation, Chen Liehan taught in our university for 3 years, and then he was admitted to the postgraduate program of Professor Hu Meisheng in the Ceramics Department of our college. He grow in Jingdezhen traditional ceramic production areas in such an environment, have very good Jingdezhen ceramic forming process and the traditional decoration technology, exhibits the middle of blue and white this figure quiver is his graduate work in graduate student period, inherited traditional Jingdezhen blue and white decoration art features, innovation and on this basis.

He persevered, and there were works in every period. It was not easy. He is cultivated and edified by the environment of Jingdezhen more deep, take glaze color drawing seriously, he is on the balcony of the home in Beijing, installed electric furnace, double weekend day and night take out time to have glaze color drawing and firing.

 

In 2010, after the evaluation of the master of Chinese ceramic art, the objective conditions were improved, and the leaders of the unit paid attention to him and asked him to concentrate on ceramic creation and officially set up his personal studio in Longquan. He is very low-key, in Longquan creation to Longquan mentioned Chen Liehan are familiar, but mention Chen Liehan in Longquan celadon, many countries master and master of the province are not clear, I don't think this is very simple, as long as there is time he wrote it into the studio, didn't during the day or night, two or three months, every time I returned to Beijing after I saw his new works are all very surprised. The celadon has only been created for more than 5 years. It is not easy to create many works. The masters from Longquan do not have such creative energy. More to the credit of his celadon modelling is complete, the adornment of the ears are diverse, in the mouth, shoulder, stomach, his feet on the local treatment of suitable for thick celadon glaze, local glaze have a thickness of the work, glaze color contrast, to control the liquidity of glaze, the celadon glaze in danxia, modelling win captures the unique language, and adornment gimmick is diversiform, characterization. Explore celadon blue and white, celadon painted gold and celadon red and green color decoration, at this point I think it is very gratifying. His bottles, cans, Zunkou treatment is not Jingdezhen white porcelain modeling, because the beauty of celadon and glaze itself green mountains and rivers like jade beauty is linked together, the beauty of glaze color reflected from the modeling, he has done it. He mastered the traditional artistic characteristics of celadon, and made bold attempts in glaze decoration. Liu Peijin: Seeing Chen Liehan's exhibition, I feel gratified, very happy, in the growth of Chen Liehan gave us a revelation, being an official and becoming an artist are two different things, is a different mode of behavior. In fact, Chen Liehan is an artistic talent, not suitable for leadership and management work, in recent years, his work focus to ceramic creation, celadon creation has made achievements, is worth congratulation. His creation can be divided into several processes. Li Zhengan: It's a pleasure to meet you again. Liehan and I first met in the late 1980s at the China Arts and Crafts Art Museum. He was then a young teacher in the Fine Arts Department of Jingdezhen Ceramic Institute, and I was a graduate student of the Central Academy of Arts and Crafts. Now we all see his achievements in ceramic creation, with his decades of hard work is inseparable. Below I would like to say something invisible, behind a large number of his creations are the soul and thoughts of ceramic design, in the creation of blue and white, pottery and celadon works are also relatively effective, his attention and hidden wisdom in ceramic design, in his ceramic works are absolutely evident. Ceramic design and ceramic creation are co-flourishing and symbiosis. We should transform the design wisdom, design content and design technology into the creation of ceramic works. There are strong design ideas behind Chen Liehan's ceramic works.

Qin Pu: Liehan and I are both graduates of the Fine Arts Department of Jingdezhen Ceramic Institute. It was in the early 1990s that I first saw Chen Liehan's works, when I saw his blue and white works published in the magazine Fine Arts. At that time he was working in the China National Crafts Import and Export Corporation. In my spare time, I also create ceramics. Later, he was evaluated as a master of Chinese ceramic art, and the unit leader gave him time to create. Today's exhibition is a summary of his 30 years of dedication and perseverance. The effect of celadon in the exhibits is the most prominent and conspicuous, which is very rare from the perspective of modeling. There is a subtle relationship between the glaze color, the form and the humanities of the works. After a long period of cultivation, we artists have developed excellent aesthetic ability. Therefore, after seeing the exhibition, I think he has reached a certain height in the creation of celadon. During the visit, I was thinking about a topic that I had been thinking about for a long time: how to apply ceramics to public space? Still have, how to revitalize Chinese craft art namely? In my opinion, young people should keep learning and rely on them for revitalization. Another point is cross-border learning. No matter what kind of ceramic material we use, the most important thing is to understand and grasp the application of the material, and to deal with the relationship between form and shape, so as to create works that are modern. Of course, it is also important to dig and inherit the traditional art at a deeper level, rather than the things with water, representation and symbolization. Thank you!

Cao Jinglou: Hello, everyone! I have known Liehan for more than ten years. When he was the curator of the Oriental Art Museum of China, he invited me to visit several exhibitions and saw his ceramic works. Liehan is a professional, the beginning of pottery more, and his ceramic art is a modern, young thought to understand, combined with the social situation in the abstract form of expression. I once discussed with him that modern ceramic works are recognized in the art circle, but it is difficult for people to recognize and accept them as commodities. Among the modern languages used in ceramic decoration, his blue-and-white work Lotus Gathering uses the shades of blue-and-white materials to represent objects. The shape is very general and concise, full of decorative qualities, and the work is elegant and elegant. In the last five years, he went to Longquan to make celadon. I was very excited after watching it, especially the shape of celadon has changed a lot. He put the Chinese traditional ceramic model and the way we live today is clever union, this makes celadon a breakthrough and development in the modelling, regardless of the glaze is used, the change of the shape, or use the new form of decoration, to create the celadon works are very beautiful, delicate and pretty, elegant, pleasant, warm like a sapphire, glaze thickness shade have contrast, have change. Sun Jianjun: I am very glad to attend the opening ceremony and seminar of Chen Liehan's exhibition. Many of you are his teachers and alumni. I feel very friendly. When I saw the exhibition of Chen Liehan's works, I recalled that I did not have much contact with graduate students in school, but I did have a lot of contact with him. I still keep in touch with him after I started work. Liehan impressed me that he loved ceramic art very much. He was always thinking, studying and creating, and constantly asked for help when he encountered problems. From his works, we can see his persistent pursuit of art. This persistence is manifested in three aspects: one is continuous learning, two is continuous progress, and three is perseverance. It is not easy to keep the spirit of constant thinking and enterprising in your profession. From the point of view of the works, some of the artistic effects are very wonderful, while others can be seen that he is trying, such as the celadon painting of flowers, the effect is very good. In a word, there is no limit to learning and art. Li Jie: I have benefited a lot from the speech by the experts just now. Today I attended Chen Liehan's first solo exhibition, and we all spoke highly of his works and put forward some good suggestions. Chen Liehan is a master of Beijing Gongmei and a master of Chinese ceramic art. I was deeply moved by his experience. At the beginning, he worked in China National Technology Corporation, where he set up a good platform for the publicity and promotion of ceramics, organized numerous exhibitions and promoted the development of ceramic art. However, he has always been steadfast in his love of art and insists on constantly creating. Today, I can see that his works have made great progress compared with those of a few years ago. Just now, experts have also spoken highly of him. I have two feelings. First, I think his life experience is different. I have been in touch with Mr. Liehan, and I know that he has a good foundation in inheriting the ceramic tradition. He has been devoting himself to creation over the years. From the exhibits, we can see that he dabbles in blue and white, modern pottery and celadon, and three categories, which should be summarized by an exhibition. Ceramics is our profound traditional culture of the Chinese nation. Compared with you, I am a layman, but I often read books about ceramics. Chen Gaochao: Dear leaders, experts and teachers, good afternoon. We are very glad to be the co-organizer of "Master Chen Liehan Ceramic Art Exhibition". I have known Master Chen Liehan for nearly 10 years. First of all, I would like to congratulate him and share my feelings with you through this platform. As for the works, the experts and teachers have also spoken highly of them academically. I remember that in July 2010, Master Chen Liehan published a personal collection of 70 works, which is a summary of his previous ceramic creations. Every time I contacted him by phone, I knew that he was working in Longquan, and I felt the shift in his focus. In recent years, he devoted himself to ceramic creation and produced many works, some of which were awarded, some were published, and some were collected. His celadon creation level has been recognized by everyone. I hope Master Chen will pay attention to the grafting of modern science and technology and the integration of tradition and fashion in the future, so as to make his works internationalized, which is what we all expect. Ding Yiming: Good afternoon, teachers. Mr. Chen is also my teacher. First of all, I wish Mr. Chen a great success in his exhibition. I would like to tell you a short story. A few days ago, Mr. Chen sent me the news materials of this exhibition, which attracted wide attention in the industry after it was released on my platform. One of the friends from Yuzhou Jun porcelain not only asked about the exhibition information, but also praised Mr. Chen's works, creation status and professionalism. My deepest feeling to Mr. Chen is diligent, and modest, respect for seniors, to help the younger generation. Here I also take this opportunity to express my gratitude to Mr. Chen. Finally, I wish this exhibition a complete success. Thank you!

 

 

Wang Jianzhong: Thank you very much for Editor-in-Chief Ding's statement. He has done a lot of voluntary publicity for masters and professors in the ceramic field these years, which also reflects some of his feelings. Now let's invite Master Chen Liehan to make a speech.

 

Chen Liehan: First of all, I would like to thank all the teachers for their comments on my works and their valuable suggestions. Let me briefly introduce my development process in more than 30 years. After I graduated from the Graduate School of Arts and Technology, Liu Peijin, the general manager of China Art Corporation, accepted me under the recommendation of Mr. Zhang Shouzhi. Without the acceptance of Mr. Liu, perhaps I could not settle down in Beijing. Therefore, the first people I should be grateful for are Mr. Zhang and Mr. Liu. After I entered the China Arts and Crafts Corporation, I worked as an art editor for the magazine "Chinese Crafts" for several years. The work was relatively easy, so I used my spare time to create ceramics. I built an electric stove on the balcony of my own house to create and fire glaze color. By 2005, he had rented a house to build a studio in the suburbs of Beijing, bought a large electric kiln, bought clay and glaze materials from Shandong, and created a batch of modern ceramics. During the five years from 2005 to 2009, he had made more than 20 original ceramic works, which had complicated molding process and long molding time, and had been fired for many times. In 2010, after I was evaluated as a master, the leaders of the company attached great importance to me and supported me to create. I began to concentrate my time on creating in Longquan and set up a studio here. When I arrived in Longquan, I only immersed myself in the studio to create, and all my works were shipped back to Beijing. Today I do this exhibition with a very clear purpose, which is to let you evaluate my works and give me valuable opinions, because now I have no pressure from work and devote myself to creation. Facts have proved that a person can make a lot of works when he concentrates on creation. For example, several works created last year were drawn slowly by me, trying hard to be detailed. In the studio in Longquan, I work from 8 am to 11 PM every day. Although the environment in Longquan studio is shabby and the creation process has to be done by myself, which is a bit hard, I think I must live up to myself. Starting from 2016, I will make more efforts in porcelain creation. At present, I am exploring the direction of celadon blue and white, celadon red and green color and celadon painted gold decoration. Because the homogenization of celadon is very serious now, color painting decoration can form personal style. I hope to make a breakthrough in the decoration of celadon glaze and make a bold attempt in this respect.

 

I will work hard on artistic creation, repay teachers and leaders of the company, and create better works for everyone to evaluate. Thank you, and thank you again for being here.

 

 

Wang Jianzhong: Just now Liehan described his creative journey of more than 30 years in a very plain tone. In fact, I am quite clear about his entire process. Just now he specially thanked two teachers, who helped him inadvertently, which basically decided the trajectory of his life. He road is hard that 30 years of artistic exploration, as his brothers and friends, we can empathy, because we have been through the experience, so this seemingly Chen Liehan is a phase of art, is the beginning of his new art to explore. Today is a good day -- the traditional Laba Festival. Zhang Shouzhi: I would like to add a few words. Why did Chen Liehan enter the postgraduate program of Hu Meisheng in the Central Institute of Art and Technology from Jingdezhen Ceramic Institute? Our college teachers in the ancient color powder in Jingdezhen and colored enamel is Mr. Zheng Naiheng, once in a: Rongbaozhai and the Palace Museum that teaches Chinese traditional process of coloured drawing or pattern, succeeded Mr. Hu Meisheng teacher graduation stay in this foundation course, teaching for decades, Hu Meisheng teacher four years before retirement, when consider to choose successors of the course. After graduation, he did not stay in school, but chose to work in a large state-owned enterprise. He was assigned a house as soon as he arrived in the company, and the leader was very kind to him. After graduation he has spare time for ceramic creation, it was not until nearly 5 years have more time to devote his time to them, you can see, less than 5 years he created so many works, the creation of a strong desire to make him never slack off, but more creative thinking, does not require the quantity, to top, to innovate, the language to be rich, but is to be a subtraction. We must achieve the level of China's Song Dynasty, our generation is absolutely confident to realize the Chinese dream, thank you!
